First and foremost I dedicate this article to two amazing veteran friends of mine, Tiffany Lee Alward and Ray Sabol. They have inspired me to write this article. Through our conversations and sharing together, much more of my mission to serve our veterans has become clear. Without our veterans we would not enjoy our freedoms.
Raw cannabis has been used as effective medicine for thousands of years by humans. As we have become accustomed to smoking the dried and cured female flowers for it’s euphoric psychoactive effects, we have lost much of what whole plant cannabis medicine can offer us. As an herbalist, and aromatherapist, and medical cannabis educator, I advocate for whole plant medicine as much as possible. Utilizing all aspects of the cannabis plant according to it’s therapeutic value to get very specific and targeted effects as cannabis medicine is key. Through years of perfecting my extraction methods to the T, I now have wonderful recipes and methodologies to make cannabis medicine according to how it is needed. Organic and pure is always my priority.
In my lovely state of Massachusetts we can legally gift up to an ounce of cannabis and this helps the mission in serving our underserved patients and veterans through outreach and much more! Our underserved patients continue to keep me motivated and on the learning path. Sharing stories of veterans and patients getting their life back through cannabis medicine is so inspirational. As a child, I saw and experienced first hand how P.T.S.D. can manifest in veterans of war, and it tore my family apart. My mission in life is to prevent more families from being torn apart due poor symptom management from P.T.S.D. and the like, through education and resources. If you are suffering with PTSD or any multitude of debilitating emotional and physical challenges, it’s important for you to know that cannabis has prevented many veterans from committing suicide and it has given them quality of life back!
I seek wisdom from science and the leading cannabis researchers to assist in preparing and teaching patients how to effectively use cannabis to relieve symptoms and increase quality of life. Education is the key to life, and I am blessed and honored to help bridge the gap and relieve suffering for patients from all walks of life. Here is a brief synopsis of some of the main Cannabinoids/Phyto-therapeutics I utilize in varying ways in my cannabis therapeutics; THCA: has antitumor and anti-inflammatory properties, and also provides relief to inflammatory bowel disease, R.A., and autoimmune issues. CBDA: a powerful anti-emetic (anti-nausea), and is 100x’s more powerful in this action than CBD. CBG: An antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotectant. Chlorophyll: A supreme chemical messenger agent for delivery of oxygen, B vitamins and Iron through the blood and aiding in absorption.
Terpines, also called the essential oils of cannabis are quite an important piece of the overall chemovar or “strain” of cannabis, and will yield many different effects depending upon the plant’s overall constituents and their synergetic effects. When choosing a particular chemovar or cannabis preparation, it’s important to consider the terpine content as well. Here is a brief list of some of the most common terpines found in cannabis, and the common effects they have on the body; Limonine: uplifting and energizing, Linalool: calming, anti-anxiety, Myrcene: Sedating, Beta-Caryophyllene: anti-inflammatory, pain relieving.
I am in the middle of preparing for branding and manufacturing in the legal MA market as well so watch for my healing products coming to a store near you.
